
Learn to Crew Course
Try sailing — no experience required.
Looking to get involved but not ready to own a boat? Learn the ropes as crew! This fun, multi-week course is perfect for beginners who want to get hands-on experience aboard a sailboat. The Susquehanna Yacht Club offers a Learn to Crew Sailing Class designed for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience on the water. The program provides expert instruction, a comprehensive curriculum, and access to modern, well-maintained boats.

Junior Sailing


Confidence, skills, and fun — on and off the water.
Children ages 9-17 can learn the ropes with Local Leaders! Our Junior Sailing Program introduces kids to sailing through hands-on instruction and games in a safe, supportive setting.
This program runs every summer and is limited to 24 students. Early registration is encouraged.
Fee: $100 (SYC Members) / $120 (Non-Members)
Use discount code MULTIPLE for 10% off when registering more than one child.
No experience required. Participants must be able to swim and bring a USCG-approved life jacket (with whistle).



Sailing Skills and Seamanship Course
Earn your Safe Boating Certificate and gain confidence on the water.
This 8-week course combines classroom instruction with on-the-water learning. Taught by certified instructors from the Coast Guard Auxiliary, it's perfect for beginners or those seeking a refresher. This hands-on course includes both classroom instruction and on-the-water experience, providing participants with a solid foundation in sailing and seamanship. his program runs one day a week every spring.
This program is offered every spring.
Fee: $45 (one person) / $25 (per additional family member sharing materials)
Open to the public — no SYC or USCG Auxiliary membership required.
